Designing alternate spaces in the station for the travelers journey

Project realized at ENSCI les Ateliers with Henri Frachon, SNCF - French national railway, 2016

OASIS concept is renewing the travelling experience by designing lively and pleasant paths through the station where anyone could stop and enjoy interactive activities. The project is made of 3 modular systems for different animations patterns. We could invite designers, artists to contribute by bringing their own ideas into the "Oasis" system in order to regenerate the concept and better fit into the architecture of the station.

Le passage cinétique

The wall interacts with the travelers being attracted like magnets. The device makes the user slow down and connect with the station life while escaping from the travelers flow. Colors and animations will change constantly following station announcements and events.

La balade sonorE

The installation invites the passengers for a walk. Within a sound of various compositions, each speaker is broadcasting different contents and sets the sound in motion into the space. Each traveler has a unique perception of the sound composition based on his or her body position and movement. The sound changes constantly in a day to suit the mood and rhythm of the station.

Watching travelers bearing, sometimes in very unsteady positions while looking for a nice hang out place, we proposed to test their postures and study their expectations. Near the station platform, playful wall extensions makes the waiting area more comfortable for travelers.
